Beijing, April 15 (Reporter: Qu Ting) Recently the National Healthcare Security Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and National Health Commission have jointly announced that for confirmed and suspected foreign patients of COVID-19 who are not covered by China’s basic medical insurance scheme, medical institutions should adopt the "treatment first, pay later" model and admit all the confirmed and suspected foreigners; and that the coronavirus treatment expenses shall all be borne by the foreign patients.
This joint announcement specifies the medical payment policy for foreign COVID-19 patients in China. Previously healthcare security authorities have stipulated the "treatment first, settle expenses later" to be applied to all confirmed and suspected Chinese patients.
