Hebei Receives Extensive Aid from Sister and Cooperation States/Provinces and Organizations Abroad

Since the coronavirus outbreak, Hebei has received generous aid in various forms from its sister and cooperation states/provinces and organizations abroad. 

Mr. Luca Berrone, an old friend of China in the U.S. state of Iowa, Hebei’s sister state, wrote emotionally to Chinese embassy:  "I share the same feelings with you, eager for positive news on the alleviation of the coronavirus epidemic. I would do my best to aid Chinese people."  Mr. Jaap Smit, governor of the Province of Zuid-Holland of the Netherlands, wrote to his counterpart in Hebei,  "ln facing this tragic public health emergency, it is important that the Chinese government takes immediate necessary measures to control the epidemic. Your efforts have been recognized by the WHO and most international communities including the Netherlands."   "Please forward our regards to the doctors and nurses who are fighting this epidemic in the front line of the hospitals in Hebei, and especially for the Hebei medical team that is now working in Wuhan."  

Governor Xu Qin has also received sympathy letters from his counterparts of Leningrad Region (Russia) and Gyeonggi Province (Republic of Korea). Tula Region (Russia), South Moravian Region (Czech Republic), Buenos Aires Province (Argentina), Nagano Prefecture and Tottori Prefecture (Japan), and Gangwon Province (ROK) sent inquires to Hebei about the types, models and other details of medical supplies needed to see what they can do. Zuid-Holland Province has designated contact persons to help Hebei import N95 masks; Brandenburg State (Germany), South Moravian Region, and East Flanders (Belgium) lent a hand by contacting medical supplies companies to purchase materials needed; Nagano Prefecture and Gyeonggi Province applied to their respective central government for providing protective suits and masks, disinfectants and other materials in short supply to Hebei, and the donation of medical supplies from Nagano is already on the way; Tomakomai City (Japan) has donated protective suits and masks to Qinhuangdao. 

Many international organizations have also expressed their sympathy and offered generous aid to Hebei and China to fight the ruthless virus. For example, Russia Overseas Chinese Youth Association has donated 200,000 masks to Hebei Chest Hospital; Australia Hebei Business Association has raised 180,000 masks for Hebei and Wuhan; Greek Overseas Chinese Women's Association has donated 200 masks and 400 pairs of gloves to Hebei; American Hebei Friendship Association is organizing a charity campaign in the United States; Belgium Overseas Chinese Association has offered many useful clues on possible suppliers of protective masks and suits and other medical supplies.
