At the March 29 press conference of the State Council Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, Mi Feng, spokesperson of the National Health Commission and its deputy head of Publicity Department, said that as of March 28, existing cases of COVID-19 in China had fallen below 3,000, and local transmission of the coronavirus had basically been blocked. China already has an accumulated total of 693 cases entering from overseas, 83.4% of which are from seven of the 42 exporting countries. It means the possibility of a new round of infections remains relatively big. Therefore we should continue to guard against sporadic local infections and imported infections at the same time, identify risks and take countermeasures as soon as possible and implement well-targeted prevention and control measures.
