At the meeting, Liu Haitao, director of the border inspection and management department of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), said that the domestic anti-coronavirus situation continues to improve, but the number of imported cases has been increasing, topping 950 so far, and that stemming the import of COVID-19 cases has become a prominent task in the current anti-coronavirus battle.
According to Liu, NIA is responsible for the inspection and management of entry/exit personnel and transport means at ports and border areas, and is at the forefront of stemming the import of COVID-19 cases. It has comprehensively strengthened border control measures at ports and established three defense lines against the import of cases, going all out to track the cases before, during and after their entering the mainland.
