At the press conference of the State Council of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism held on the afternoon of April 23, Mi Feng, spokesperson of National Health Commission, shared the latest updates on the COVID-19 epidemic in China. According to him, as of April 22, Hubei had only two seriously ill cases; nationwide, the number of existing confirmed cases fell below 1,000 for the first time; and more than half of the imported cases have recovered and discharged from hospital. He also warned that the number of clustering cases in some places is rising, and called for immediate actions to block the transmission, tighten the loopholes in prevention and control efforts, and resolutely suppress a resurgence in cases.
